Job Summary:
The University of Colorado (CU) School of Medicine is seeking a talented full-time Senior Content Specialist/Writer. This position will plan, develop, and complete compelling content that is consistent with CU brand messaging and guidelines. Topics to cover will include areas in research, clinical care, community outreach, and education.
The Senior Content Specialist/Writer must exhibit exceptional attention to detail, the ability to stay on task, and the ability to work with varying levels of staff and faculty to gather information, write, and distribute content appropriately. The position is a hybrid in-person and remote work model, and it requires excellent project management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
The position will be a contributing member of the CU School of Medicine communications team supporting the goals of the Dean's Office and working to connect and strengthen the communications between the school and its departments, divisions, and centers.

Actively seeks out stories and creates blogs, patient stories, press releases, and other content about research, patient care, clinical trials, faculty accolades, student recognition, and philanthropy to promote the School of Medicine.
Monitors local, regional, and national healthcare news and ensures that the School of Medicine newsroom includes appropriate information about current events by interviewing key faculty and staff members and creating associated news releases or blog content.
Tracks and records media clips featuring the School of Medicine in the media and online to promote in the newsroom.
Publishes content on HubSpot, Sitefinity, and EurekAlert.
Prepares key takeaways from blog content to promote on social media posts and in newsletters.

Editor and collaborator on publications, such as the CU Medicine Today twice-yearly magazine.
Collaboration and Best Practices:
Builds and maintains relationships with faculty, staff, trainees, and students within the School of Medicine.
Collaborate with colleagues at CU Anschutz Medical Campus, UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, Veterans Affairs, and other partners as appropriate.
Identify and implement best practices regarding communications, strategies, and tools.
Attend campus communications meetings as needed.
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, business, or other related fields.
3-5 years of experience working in communications and writing, preferably in health care or higher education.
Substitution:
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines, and ensuring on-time deliverables.
Some experience with writing about science-specific topics and/or the healthcare sector.
Ability to write for both consumer and clinical audiences.
Photojournalism skills.
Experience working in a web content management system (Sitefinity, HubSpot).
Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Canva.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exceptional independent writing skills and experience in developing clear, concise, and key message-focused communications.
Excellent knowledge of editing and grammar, including AP style.
Demonstrated ability to consistently capture the voice of a brand/person.
Highly organized and dependable; able to multitask, working quickly and effectively to manage numerous deadlines with minimal supervision.
Self-starter who can work independently and in a team environment.
Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.
Dedicated to producing excellent work and outstanding customer service.
