Our IA NYC Studio is currently hiring for the position of Design Director. In this role, you are responsible for providing a clear vision and direction for the studio’s design output. You will partner with clients and project teams to elevate design in all markets ranging from hospitality to workplace, and you’ll foster a culture of design excellence throughout the practice.

Job Responsibilities
Establish rapport with clients, develop project vision and understand client goals for performance, budget and schedule.
Lead design presentations for key projects and accounts.
Monitor team design output for all clients, coordinating with PM and design/technical teams to ensure design and furniture deliverables are aligned with client goals.
Lead creation of space plans, design deliverables and furniture packages for key projects and accounts.
Mentor and develop the design team. Oversee deliverables and provide feedback on work product. Together with studio leadership, lead key training and team-building exercises.
Maintain strong industry and client relationships. Together with studio leadership, identify opportunities for business development and new project pursuits.
Together with design and marketing teams, lead project photography efforts.
Foster internal relationships across the firm, ensuring that design deliverables are aligned with best practices firmwide.
Market & Technology Expertise:
Stay ahead of industry trends by actively engaging with design conferences, networking events, and thought leadership discussions.
Keep a pulse on emerging technologies, sustainability innovations, and shifting market demands to ensure designs remain forward-thinking and impactful.
Regularly explore new materials, digital tools, and evolving client expectations to adapt and innovate. Immerse in industry research, insights, and global design movements.
Qualified candidates should be positioned in the industry as a leader who not only follows trends but anticipates and shapes them.
Education & Work Experience
Graduate of an accredited architecture or design school.
Licensed Architect and/or Interior Designer.
15+ years progressive experience in workplace design.
Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of design, from concept through contract administration.
Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, codes (local and state) and ADA requirements.
Comprehensive knowledge of design principles, practices and architectural detailing.
Comprehensive knowledge of contract furnishings, finishes and equipment.
Advanced MS Office Suite skills.
Advanced Revit and Sketchup skills.
Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills.
Salary Range : Flexible based on industry experience, education and market expertise: $140,000 - 190,000
