We are seeking a Senior contemporary apparel designer who will work collaboratively to create and execute seasonal collections that embody our clients brand’s unique aesthetic. This role requires a strong design sensibility, technical expertise, and the ability to bring innovative concepts to life while maintaining exceptional quality standards. In DTLA - Must Submit Contemporary collection portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with the Design Director to conceptualize and plan seasonal collections that align with brand vision and market trends.
Leverage extensive experience in global sourcing and production; familiarity with domestic manufacturing is a plus.
Research and develop innovative techniques, prototypes, embroideries, trims, and treatments to elevate the collection.
Collaborate with production partners to develop new processes and ensure timely delivery of samples that meet production timelines.
Problem-solve with Product Development to balance design integrity and cost objectives.
Create detailed sketches and tech packs to communicate designs to pattern makers and manufacturing teams.
Manage the design process through fittings, partnering with Pattern Makers to finalize samples.
Stay ahead of trends and present fresh ideas that align with seasonal direction and the target customer.
Review and comment on fabric and trim submissions to ensure alignment with design standards.
Attend trade shows and exhibitions for fabric sourcing and inspiration.
Conduct ongoing trend and market research to stay informed of competitive offerings and industry innovations.
REQUIREMENTS Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Familiarity with garment construction and production processes, including washes and treatments.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior design role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
Proficiency in creating and managing tech packs.
Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
