POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Public Relations Director, this position contributes to the Tribe's public outreach efforts. Responsible for public relations activities including creating content for social media, drafting flyers and graphics and capturing and editing still photos and video footage of interviews, projects and tribal events. Examples of Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Create compelling written, video and audio content on a deadline. 2. Produce professional-quality flyers, graphics and infographics. 3. Research and write social media content. 4. Interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. 5. Verifies information prior to publication. 6. Assists with the development of the Yurok Today Podcast. 7. Assists with the development of Yurok Today TV. 8. Designs advertisements and brochures as well as other print media. 9. Help organize virtual and in-person events, including press conferences, livestreams and press tours. 10. Help complete administrative work. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 1. G8: Bachelor's degree in related field with two years job specified experience. 2. Employee must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or becomes required of the position in the future. 3. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A university degree, preferably in graphic design, art, multimedia journalism or videography/filmmaking. 2. Applicants must provide the following: 4 published graphics or flyers or 4 photographs (portraits or action shots of people) or 2 videos, preferred. 3. Ability to independently create engaging video edits and still imagery. 4. Ability to create aesthetically pleasing graphics with text. 5. Ability to draft short articles and social media posts with minimal oversight. 6. Skilled in InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro or other industry standard programs. 7. Ability to quickly create content on a deadline. 8. Ability to work additional hours and perform under pressure on a regular basis. 9. Ability to walk long distances (1-4 miles) carrying up to 30 pounds of camera gear. 10. Ability to travel out of the area for multiple days at a time. 11. To effectively serve the Yurok community, one must know as much as possible about Yurok history, culture and values. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Supplemental Information
