KCEN-TV serving the Waco/Temple/Killeen communities, is looking for a dynamic, experienced Evening News Anchor/Multiskilled Journalist who is passionate about impactful storytelling, community connection, and newsroom leadership. This is more than just reading a prompter—we need a confident, engaging journalist who can handle breaking news with composure, hold the powerful accountable, and deliver stories that make a difference in the lives of our viewers. This person will turn stories every day and co-anchor the 10pm newscast.
Responsibilities:
- Enterprise compelling, original stories daily—digging deep into issues that matter to our community.
- Report live from the field and in the studio, including breaking news, investigative pieces, and community-driven content.
- Anchor newscasts with confidence, clarity, and authority while ensuring credibility and connection with the audience.
- Shoot, write, and edit stories independently, in most cases as an MSJ.
- Serve as a newsroom leader, setting the standard for excellence, ethics, and collaboration.
- Work closely with producers to develop fast-paced, informed, and engaging newscasts.
- Maintain a strong social media presence to engage with viewers and enhance storytelling.
- Stay curious, ask the tough questions, and hold the powerful accountable.
- Be a team player who thrives in KCEN’s newsroom culture—one that values collaboration, innovation, and community service.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years experience preferred
- Exceptional storytelling skills—able to break down complex issues in a compelling, digestible way.
- Calm and composed in high-pressure, breaking news situations.
- Strong shooting and editing skills (experience with professional camera equipment and editing software required).
- Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and creativity.
- Deep commitment to local news and the communities we serve.
