One of our nonprofit clients is seeking an organized and proactive event coordinator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in event coordination, event management, and program coordination within the nonprofit sector. The coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a wide variety of events and programs that support our mission and engage their community. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a passion for delivering memorable experiences for our supporters.

This is a contact-to-hire opportunity. McKinley offers competitive benefits during the contract period. This role is mostly remote but will require travel around the Detroit area 1-2 times per month.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of events, including golf tournaments, virtual conferences, community events, and more
  • Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless execution of events
  • Oversee event logistics such as venue selection, catering, transportation, technology, decor, and audio-visual requirements
  • Develop event timelines and ensure all activities adhere to deadlines and budgetary constraints
  • Manage event registration, attendee communications, and ticketing systems
  • Assist in the development of program materials, schedules, and agendas for various nonprofit programs and events
  • Serve as a point of contact for event participants, ensuring an excellent experience before, during, and after the event
  • Engage donors, sponsors, and community partners in event planning and execution to foster long-term relationships and enhance event impact
  • Coordinate post-event follow-up, including thank-you notes, surveys, and donor recognition
  • Maintain event documentation and reports for future reference and to support organizational goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in event coordination, management, or program coordination, ideally within the nonprofit sector
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with volunteers, donors, and community members
