DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Animation, Film, & Television invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track (NTT) faculty position in Film & Television Production. Teaching assignments may include a range of courses in the program based on expertise, including Filmmaking I, Multi-camera Narrative Production, Filmmaking II, Introduction to the Control Room and Studio, and Introduction to Non-Scripted Television and Editing, among others. Candidates should have a strong professional history in film/television production, and we welcome candidates with professional expertise in any number of popular entertainment genres. We are particularly interested in candidates who have professional experience in and can teach to the future of media production, excited by the integration of new digital tools (including AI) in the production process.

The Film & TV program offers a singular BA degree that allows students to pursue a broad range of interests, including a thesis film curricular pathway. Faculty in Film & TV are expected to contribute to the curricular and co-curricular life of the program and School, including support for student submissions to media festivals and general support for student productions. Faculty members also have the opportunity to take leadership roles with a range of signature educational opportunities in the School, such as the growth of the School’s Los Angeles program, the development of the School’s new streaming media platform Hawk+, and a range of speakers and media partnerships. Faculty are also expected to conduct office hours; participate in area, School, and College meetings; provide University service as appropriate; and participate in the overall curricular and co-curricular life of the School and the University.

Position is a two-year, ten-month, non-tenure track appointment, with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTTP procedures.


Qualifications

The successful candidate must have professional work experience in film or television. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in a related field and previous college teaching experience (bachelor’s degree required). We appreciate candidates who have proficiency across a range of production environments.
