KCBS2/KCAL9, the nation's largest duopoly and part of the CBS Owned & Operated stations in Los Angeles, is seeking an MMJ/Reporter to join our KCAL News Team. We are looking for a curious and passionate storyteller with a love for shooting, writing, and editing untold stories sourced from our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. The daily gathering of news and information for various platforms including TV, digital and social media.
  2. Will work with producers and news managers on developing, researching, investigating, writing, producing, and presenting stories as needed for both TV and digital platforms.
  3. Present completed news stories that are accurate, journalistically sound, fair and balanced.
  4. Will report live during newscasts and breaking news as needed.
  5. Will shoot, edit, coordinate, manage, conduct, and video record interviews.
  6. Build links with community and contacts for developing impactful original stories.
  7. Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience as an MSJ/ Television Reporter.
  2. Proven social media skills.
  3. Minimum 3 years’ experience writing, producing and desktop editing.

Education Requirements:

  1. College Degree Required or Equivalent Experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 150,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
