Authorizations Clerk

position will work from our centralized call center at our corporate office in Arcadia, CA.

Pay Range: $21/hour

The scheduled shift is:

Monday-Friday, 8:50am-5:30pm (occasional Saturday overtime). There is an opportunity to work remotely after successfully passing the introductory period and meeting goals. In this vital role you will check eligibility and benefits, and obtain clinical notes for PPO insurances. Submit authorizations for PPO insurances. Check eligibility and benefits for HMO insurances. Some of the exams include: Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

What You Will Do:

Ascertain eligibility information for patient scheduled for CT, MRI, and PET scans. Obtain clinical records to get authorization/precertification approved for patients having CT, MRI and PET scans. Obtain benefits information, including co-insurance and deductible amounts. Confirm appointments and inform patient of the estimated amount due at the time of service. Contact referring physician office if authorization CPT code needs to be changed. Maintain excellent working relationships with referring physician offices and patients. Document all actions taken and results in patient's account. Maintain confidentiality of all health information. Answer phones and make phone calls. Print and fax paperwork. Perform data entry work. Any other duty as assigned by the Director, Manager or Lead. What You Will Bring:

One year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting Knowledge of medical terminology desirable Word processing and computer experience Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of work experience Must be able to speak clearly and communicate effectively. Must be fluent in the English language. Knowledge of business office procedures, including knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Skill in operating a computer, using the internet and operating general office machinery. Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.

What Your Work Environment WIll Be Like: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive contact with individuals and frequent interruptions. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Must be able to lift 10 pounds. Must be able to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
