About the Seasonal Technical Director Role:
BRIC seeks a Seasonal Technical Director to join our production team for Celebrate Brooklyn!. This individual will play a key role in delivering high production values and maintaining safety standards, ensuring a positive experience for artists, audiences, and staff alike.

About the Seasonal Technical Director Role:
BRIC seeks a Seasonal Technical Director to join our production team for Celebrate Brooklyn!. This individual will play a key role in delivering high production values and maintaining safety standards, ensuring a positive experience for artists, audiences, and staff alike.
What You'll Do in the Role:
The Technical Director will be responsible for the following in addition to any other projects as assigned by their manager, the Production Director:
Seasonal Tasks
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and strike of:
- Brown United production roof (steel structure)
- Catwalk and truss lighting system (aluminum structure)
- All rigging systems
- Power distribution systems (in collaboration with the Lighting Electrician)
- Supervise the Assistant Technical Director and Technical Coordinators.
- Organize and maintain technical storage areas.
- Draft technical drawings, including the Site Plan and Temporary Place of Assembly Drawing, as required.
- Operate, maintain, and safeguard technical assets, including lighting, sound, communication equipment, and stage facilities (in collaboration with the Production Director).
- Ensure high production value to enhance the artist and audience experience.
Daily Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe operation of all equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct and document safety checks of technical assets and set; make repairs or coordinate with the Production Director and Production Supervisor for repairs.
- Coordinate production department activities during installation and load-out to maintain schedules.
- Perform daily inspections of roof/rigging for weather-related safety issues.
- Install and strike staging, platforms, artist scenery, banners, and sponsor installations.
- Support special events as needed.
Physical Demands
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and inclement weather.
- Climb ladders and lift equipment weighing 50 lbs. or more.
You'll Bring these Skills and Strengths to the Role:
- Mission & Values Alignment: A passion for BRIC's support of the arts in Brooklyn and a deep commitment to building community, igniting learning and making change through the arts and creativity.
- Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 5-years of experience as a theater/concert TD
- Degree in technical theater and/or rigging certifications preferred.
- Experience supervising staff
- Communication & Relationship Building: A highly skilled communicator who is a team player and can support the achievement of team goals. Ability to champion, encourage, and delegate to all of the production staff.
- Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.
Other Things to Know:
- Compensation: The monthly salary range for this position is $8,000 - $10,000, commensurate with experience. This rate applies to all periods of employment except for April 2025, during which the role will shift to part-time pre-production. For the month of April 2025, the salary range will be $4,000 - $5,000.
- Status and location: This is a seasonal exempt-role based at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park.
