Your Opportunity

BDO Canada is looking for a National Communications Leader to join the team in Toronto. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing communication strategies that support brand growth objectives and inspire interest and action among internal and external audiences. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the national Communications team
  • Enhance firm brand awareness by creating compelling communications materials and campaigns in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work closely with the CEO and members of the executive team build and execute a robust executive communications strategy
  • Lead the development of internal communication plans and tactics that support change management efforts
  • Gain a deep understanding of BDO Canada's audiences to inform overall communications efforts and channel selection
  • Accountable for mitigating reputational and operational risk by anticipating, preparing for, and responding internally and externally to sensitive situations and other issues
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives and make data-driven improvements
  • Explore and implement new communications processes and technologies to enhance effectiveness
  • Manage media inquiries
  • Manage relationships with external agencies
  • Manage department budget to ensure financial compliance
  • Be exceptionally collaborative across the business

Your experience and education
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional and progressive communications experience
  • Forward-looking, curious and can blend strategic planning with tactical execution
  • Experience leading and coaching a team, fostering opportunities for growth with a passion for developing people
  • Superior strategic communication skills and the ability to develop materials that are clear, concise, and impactful
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally with stakeholders
  • Successful development of executive communications (written and verbal) for a variety of channels (e.g., speeches, e-mails, media interviews etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment
  • Proven track record in highly effective cross-functional collaboration, project management, influencing and relationship-building
  • Organizational and complex problem-solving skills with ability to prioritize and demonstrate sense of urgency
  • Comfortable learning and using current and new technology solutions and platforms to enhance efficiency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Solutions (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
