Job Summary
Graphic designers are creative thinkers who create visual communications to convey messages in an effective and aesthetically pleasing manner to create solutions for clients through creative means.
Essential Job Functions
Design web pages, brochures, logos, signs, books, magazine covers, annual reports, advertisements, and other communication materials.
Create materials by hand or by using technology, including computer software programs to produce desired collateral.
Meet with clients to gain/ensure understanding for the outcome of proposed communications and designs – understand client artistic preferences
Balance Artistry with Audience Appeal to visually represent ideas
Establish rapport with all customers – interpret artwork for general public
Create or incorporate illustrations, pictures, and designs to reflect the desired theme and tone of the communications.
Work effectively across the organization with various departments – especially sales, marketing, customer interfacing areas
Develop legible, well-designed type – all facets of typography
Select type size and style to enhance the readability of text and image.
Produce drafts for review by clients and make revisions based on the feedback received.
Review final productions for errors and ensure that final prints reflect client specifications.
Provide ongoing customer service specific to the creative arena
All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient to advanced computer knowledge – technical savvy in multiple areas
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite – including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark, etc.
Ability to work with multiple programing languages (HTML, CSS, etc.), as well as web design content management platforms
Creative and Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize various projects – project management skills
Ability to work with vendors, internal/external stakeholders for creative projects
Ability to accept constructive feedback around artwork/designs
Individual judgement and effective decision-making skills
Exceptional creative and “big picture” skills
Ability to manage through time-sensitive situations and meet deadlines
Exceptional verbal and written communications skills – plus presentation skills
Exceptional collaboration skills

Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent required
College degree preferred in a design or creative field, or commensurate experience
2+ years working within a creative environment
