Adecco Creative is partnering with one of NYC’s more iconic fashion brands to recruit for a Women’s Handbag and SLG Designer. Candidates should have strong experience working with luxury brands and be proficient in Adobe Illustrator. This is a hybrid position located in Midtown Manhattan. Relocation is not available.


Primary Purpose: The Designer will work the Design Director to initiate concepts each season that are fashion driven, reflective of the creative vision and brand aesthetic. You will be a part of a dynamic, creative environment where you will collaborate with talented designers and cross-functional partners in the business.


The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Design to...

  • Create sketches and product prototypes throughout the conceptual design process.
  • Partner with creative team to develop and refine seasonal concept, materials, hardware, and color palette for handbag/accessories collections.
  • Responsible for timeline adherence; ensure all Design Cards are completed accurately and delivered to Product Development on time; ensure all prototypes are available for product presentation and finalization. Ensure staff completes projects on timeline.
  • Responsible for upholding design integrity, high quality execution, and timeliness throughout the entire development process from concept through engineering and commercialization.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Merchandising, Sourcing, and Product Development on regular basis. Participate in meetings with cross-functional category partners.
  • Mentor and develop Design Associates and Assistants

An outstanding professional will have...

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing handbags and/or small leather goods
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related field
  • Ability to sketch both technical drawings and freeform rendering
  • Experience developing product directly with factories; understanding of development from concept through engineering, required
  • Understanding of materials, hardware, leather, and handbag construction required
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, both in sketching and color option renderings
  • Experience managing Design Assistant, Apprentice and/or Freelance reports
