Teaching Artist for Music Production + DJing Job at Building Beats in Wyandanch

Position Overview:Building Beats is seeking a Teaching Artist to lead engaging music production workshops for elementary school students in Wyandanch, NY. This is a seasonal, part-time role, requiring 1-2 hours per week during the school day, from March through June 2025.As a Teaching Artist, you will inspire students to create their own music using accessible tools and web-based DAWs. Youll facilitate a fun, supportive learning environment where young minds can develop creative projects such as a collection of beats or an album.Key Responsibilities:Lead a weekly music production workshop at an elementary school.Create a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels supported.Bring our curriculum to life, tailoring lessons to engage diverse groups of students.Develop and submit monthly lesson plans.Guide students in creating a final creative project (e.g., beats, an album).Collaborate with the Building Beats team and community partners to improve workshops.Attend monthly professional development meetings (remote and in-person).Serve as a Building Beats ambassador within the school and community.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in schools or youth development.Professional, on-time, and an effective communicator.Basic knowledge of music production.Ability to succeed in low-resource settingsyou know how to make things work!Passion for youth and community development.Ability to pass background checks through the Office of Children and Family Services.Availability to work Thursdays during the school day (1-2 hours per week).Compensation:$65/hour for teaching$25/hour for admin/trainingReady to build?Join us and make a differencewhile doing what you love!
