Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Strategic Communication Leadership:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support Coherent's business objectives and reinforce its market leadership.
    • Oversee corporate external communications, media and public relations, and thought leadership initiatives.
    • Partner with Investor Relations to support communication strategies and efforts including planning and execution for events like the upcoming Investor Day in May 2025
    • Play a key role in enhancing relationships with industry analysts, policymakers, and business partners to advance the company's interests and reputation.
    • Elevate Coherent's profile and thought leadership, ensuring consistent and compelling storytelling across all communication channels.
    • Help create content and talking points for executive media interviews, external events, analyst/investor days, and related public engagements.
    • Elevate executive voices on specific topics aligned with Coherent's strategy through high-profile news and digital media features, events, speaking engagements and other published written pieces.
    • Help coordinate social media strategy for the CEO and executive team, with a focus on leveraging platforms to drive engagement across priority audiences and topics.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related roles, with a proven track record of leadership in a global organization.

Skills
  • Expertise in developing and executing multi-stakeholder communication strategies.
  • Strong experience working with senior executives, including providing counsel to CEOs and leadership teams.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to manage media relations, public relations campaigns, and crisis communications.
  • Experience supporting investor relations efforts and events, such as Investor Day.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of strategic thinking and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions
  • This position is onsite / hybrid
  • This position requires frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams across different time zones.
  • Occasional travel may be required to gather insights, attend events, or meet with stakeholders.
  • Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
  • Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job

Physical Requirements
  • Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
  • Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings or interact with colleagues.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
