The Sr Manager, Policy Communications, will be part of the strategic communications team that supports our public policy team. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of delivering results on a range of high profile policy issues for a complex company or organization. They will be able to help build and execute successful communications campaigns related to complex technology and public policy, manage inbound inquiries relating to public policy issues, and drive awareness among key media and influencers of our positive impact on industries, customers and the communities where we operate. The right candidate possesses strong media relations and PR experience, is an expert at translating complex technology concepts into concise and well-written narratives, has significant experience supporting policy initiatives, and has a demonstrated ability in delivering results on cross-functional teams. Core Job Responsibilities Develop and manage a broad range of external communications programs and events in support of our policy goals; Establish and foster local, regional, and national media relationships by serving as a trusted source and educator; Develop campaigns and opportunities to further public engagement, and highlight our positions on important public policy matters; Deliver communications counsel to colleagues on the public policy team on both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities, earning trust across various parts of our org and our customers; Drive issues management programs with a policy component and serve as key communications counselor on crises; Develop creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of public relations experience. Communications experience with public policy issues in technology, industry, government, or energy. Experience working with tech policy reporters and tech associations. Preferred Qualifications Experience serving as a spokesperson on complex issues. Ability to dive deep on public policy issues related to cloud, cyber security, AI/ML, and regulated industries. An entrepreneurial spirit, including ability to work independently and autonomously. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and organizational skills, while also staying on top of tactical execution. Fluent in spoken and written business English. Outstanding attention to detail, understanding of technology, and ability to communicate complex topics effectively. Experience working with and understanding of public policy groups. Analytical, data-driven, evidence-based - but creative and adaptive in developing solutions. Passionate about excellence in writing and verbal communications. Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done. Strong judgement, a knack for diplomacy, and the confidence to engage and build consensus with functional leaders at all levels.
