THE OPPORTUNITY
Reel Works is hiring a Studio Senior Coordinator to oversee the management of our new office space dedicated to student film education. This position will involve overseeing film classes, podcasting, editing sessions, and ensuring the smooth operation of the multimedia studios resources and equipment.
Location: This position is in-office and requires candidates to be based in the New York City Metro area,. The physical office is located in Brooklyn, NY.
Reports To: Senior Director of Programs
Compensation: Full-time 40 hours per week; $60k - $66k + Benefits
Estimated Start Date: March 31, 2025

THE POSITION
Reel Works is dedicated to encouraging young people through the art of film and media education. We offer hands-on learning opportunities in film production, editing, podcasting, and other multimedia disciplines, fostering creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking. Our brand new multimedia space will serve as a hub for learning, allowing students to tell their stories through filmmaking while gaining real-world experience and technical skills, preparing them for future opportunities in the film and media industries.
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Programs, the Studio Senior Coordinator will support the mission and vision of Reel Works by managing the multi-media classroom and studio space and ensuring the effective use of our equipment for student education and production. This person will be the point of contact for all activities related to the studios daily operations and will ensure a safe, organized, and well-equipped learning environment for students.
WHAT YOULL DO
Studio Management (40%)
- Oversee the daily operations ensuring that the new multimedia classroom and studio space is well-organized, clean, and accessible to students and instructors across all Reel Works departments and programs
- Manage the scheduling of studio space and film equipment to avoid conflicts and ensure that all classes and sessions are adequately supported
- Collaborate with the operations team to set the office calendar, including the studios open/close schedule, responsibilities, and ensuring proper restocking of supplies.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures for the proper use and maintenance of studio resources
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Programs to ensure the facility meets the evolving needs of the organization and student program
Equipment Management (30%)
- Maintain an inventory of film equipment, including cameras, microphones, editing software, and podcasting gear, ensuring everything is in working order and available for classes
- Oversee the check-in/check-out process of all equipment, tracking usage and ensuring it is returned on time and in good condition
- Coordinate repairs or replacements of equipment as necessary
- Train staff and students on proper equipment handling, ensuring safety protocols are followed
Student & Instructor Support (20%)
- Provide support to instructors and students, helping to troubleshoot technical issues during classes or sessions
- Teach technical filmmaking classes based on your expertise and experience.
- Host screenings, school visits, volunteer training and other events throughout the year
- Assist in creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment by ensuring all resources and materials are prepared ahead of time
- Act as a liaison between the program team and instructors, addressing any logistical concerns regarding studio usage
Additional Responsibilities (10%)
- Assist in developing and implementing new programs or workshops related to film education and production
- Participate in special projects as needed to further the mission of Reel Works
QUALIFICATIONS
THE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE
- 3+ years proven experience in a film/production studio or educational environment, with a focus on operations or equipment management
- Strong technical knowledge of film production equipment, including cameras, sound equipment, lighting, and editing software
- Knowledge and experience in filmmaking.
- Experience with inventory tracking, maintenance scheduling, and equipment management.
- Proficient in Google Suite [Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Meet and Mail] and experience with tools such as Zoom and Salesforce
- Experience and passion for inclusion and working effectively with a diverse group of people
