Primarily remote with ad hoc onsite presence depending on the needs of the Senate community. Candidates should have the flexibility to report onsite as needed. JOB OVERVIEW We are seeking an Instructional Designer / Trainer to be part of a team that designs documentation and creates/provides training for technical systems, processes, and software that enhance staff performance and support the mission of our organization. This role will create and present training via live instructor-led, online instructor-led, and self-paced formats that help users leverage the technology in service of their work. Use of technical e-learning authoring tools, delivery via online platforms, and use of assessments to evaluate effectiveness of offerings is key. Key Accountabilities/Essential Job Duties Partners and collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and develop effective and accessible training to a diverse audience. Designs, delivers, and evaluates e-learning programs, virtual, and live instructor-led training. Prepares and revises educational and training materials to support larger training programs and initiatives. Delivers Senate-specific training for DC and State offices. Some travel to State Offices may be required. Prepares evaluation instruments and conducts diagnostic, formative, and summary evaluations. Provides consultation, documentation, and training to project teams for various products and processes. Other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Required Education

Required Work Experience Three to five years’ experience in teaching, training, and/or training development. Required Special Skills/Knowledge Knowledge of, or ability to learn, services provided by the Joint Office of Training and Development. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions. Ability to conduct professional presentations and present training to a variety of students. Ability to conduct needs analysis to determine training needs. Ability to develop instructional material and select the most effective instructional method. Ability to effectively interact with staff members representing all levels of the organization, as well as with outside vendors. Ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of training, instruction, and coaching. Knowledge of adult learning theory and ability to apply it in e-learning environments. Knowledge of Instructional Systems Design, course development, and training. Strong writing skills. As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. Desired Qualifications Technical Training Proficiency: Experience using e-learning authoring tools to create self-paced training and delivering via online platforms as well as in-person. Technical Orientation: Experience learning and training others on software systems by translating complex concepts and processes into actionable steps. Customer Service Orientation: Experience listening to needs, staying flexible in approach to solutions, and maintaining a professional attitude. Communication & Collaboration: Professional interpersonal and communication skills, with experience collaborating with project teams. Working Conditions Sedentary. Work requires frequent physical effort walking, bending, crawling, standing for long durations.
