As UX Designer, you will be responsible for supporting and guiding a UX team that crafts delightful and meaningful experiences for our Costco Travel Members based on a strong foundation of quantitative and qualitative research. You will work closely with product and dev teams to identify opportunities for design, create compelling interactions, validate your designs through research studies, and convincingly present your designs to stakeholders. As a partner to product management and other stakeholders, you should have strong communication skills and experience successfully partnering with product management.

Job Duties/Essential Functions
• Leads overall design strategy that meets business and user needs while considering technical limitations.
• Promotes and supports the principles of user-centered design to stakeholders and executives.
• Provides leadership, mentorship, and coaching to the UX design team.
• Fosters a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.
• Manages task prioritization within the team to meet deadlines.
• Contributes to the UX strategy, roadmap, and sprint planning processes to align UX efforts with the organization's vision and business goals.
• Ensures design consistency and usability in the designs produced by the UX team to create a cohesive member experience.
• Leads UX design projects from concept to launch as needed.
• Promotes creative ideation of interactive design concepts to solve user problems both with individual designers and collaboratively within the team.
• Partners with designers and researchers to improve evaluative usability testing of designs and to investigate and deliver user insights across diverse areas of focus.
• Advises designers on how to make design presentations to business stakeholders convincing by more effectively leveraging research, assessments and design heuristics.
• Assists designers to effectively manage stakeholder expectations and negotiate trade-offs to gain design approval.
• Champions principles of user-centered design thinking and UX best practices within the team and to stakeholders and executives.
• Advocates for appropriate accessibility (WCAG) patterns across devices (desktop, tablet, mobile) to designers and developers.
• Leads the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive design system, defining new design patterns and icons when necessary.
• Contributes to establishing engaging artifacts intended to promote deep empathy for our members throughout the organization, including personas, jobs-to-be-done, journey maps, and process flows.
• Nurtures collaborative relationships and engages cross-functionally with product teams, engineering and business stakeholders to understand business needs and incorporate a user-centered approach throughout all stages of the product cycle.
• Actively drives the improvement of processes as they relate to user-centered research and design efforts within the UX Team and throughout Technology.

Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications Required:
• 5 years of demonstrated UX design experience and leadership, preferably with consumer and enterprise experience.
• A strong UX design portfolio of work demonstrating breadth and depth in leading interaction design teams, creating strategy and establishing team processes. Portfolio should include evidence of your design process as well as deliverables (sketches, wireframes, mockups, etc.).
• Ability to mentor and inspire team members and provide constructive feedback.
• Experience driving measurable, high-impact, user-centered outcomes for both desktop and mobile.
• Solid experience adapting and extending a comprehensive UX design system.
• Deep familiarity with WCAG standards and commitment to promoting inclusive design.
• Critical thinker able to quickly work through complex variations and with high attention to detail, particularly when evaluating another designer's work.
• Expertise with modern design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or equivalent.
• Ability to make strategic recommendations for qualitative and quantitative user testing methodologies, such as user research, usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), A/B testing, and analytics to drive more optimal user outcomes.
• Ability to effectively and accurately interpret foundational user research findings and translate them into actionable insights for decision-making.
• Advanced skill in usability testing and unmoderated user research tools such as UserTesting.com.
• Excellent communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and, interpersonal) to influence all levels of stakeholders and executives within the organization.
• Ability to foster a collaborative environment where designers contribute to the creation of top-performing interfaces.
• Ability to prioritize and manage several team milestones and projects efficiently and simultaneously.
• Deep knowledge of UX and visual design best practices.
• Advanced knowledge and experience working with Agile methodologies. Recommended:
• Some experience with coding and ability to troubleshoot using HTML and CSS.
• 3 years of experience with an agile development environment and methodologies.
• Graduate degree in User Centered Design or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Lean UX models and agile workflows.
• Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
• Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
