Electronic Services Division (ESD)

supports all goals, most directly Sustaining and Enhancing agency infrastructure and business processes, by improving collaborative outcomes between WSP business and technology divisions, using consistent planning processes, increasing business continuity capabilities, and providing quality communication services. This position is one of several who are responsible for the network hardware, network configurations, and network administration inside the State Data Center (SDC) and the Quincy Disaster Recovery site. This position assists the agency Network Engineering Manager and performs highly complex tasks such as conducting data network capacity planning to determine agency needs and make recommendations; designing complex agency-wide data network infrastructure crossing multiple data networks. The position provides technology leadership for Information Technology (IT) network infrastructure and transport systems, which enables the agency to effectively engage in its public safety activities. The position sets direction and defines the Data Center technology infrastructure. Our new teammate will be able to: Assist agency architect and other Senior Network staff on the agency’s remote, on-premises and virtual networks. Maintain current design, maintenance, and projects for network architecture. Coordinate and maintain accurate documentation, including detailed diagrams, for WSP infrastructure. Keep up to date with emerging technologies, concepts, and methodologies. Support network engineering staff through coaching and mentoring, focusing on technical development. Provides technical solutions for the WSP enterprise environment and implementation of high availability network solutions on premises and cloud, to support convergence of voice and data, WSP network and WSP Maintenance LAN/WAN. Assist Agency Architects and ESD Network Manager in designing, planning, and coordinating new LAN/WAN services for WSP locations, to include purchase of equipment, configuration, installation, and maintenance. Analyze network bandwidth utilization, complex routing configurations, and firewall configuration. Support Network Section as technical subject matter expert (SME) in advanced level network support such as designing, installing, configuring and maintaining all agency switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. Facilitate Virtual Private Network (VPN) and circuit-based connectivity solutions between the WSP network environment, vendor environments, and cloud hosted environments. Maintain, manage, and administer the State and Quincy Data Centers’ interconnection and connections to the WSP WAN. Monitor and oversee the leased WAN connections to ensure the services meet WSP business, security, capacity and availability requirements. Work closely with the ESD Network Section Manager, the ITD Architecture team, ITD Security team, the ITD Planning & Project Management Office, ITD IO Group, WaTech, and the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) to ensure that all State requirements for IT projects and procurements are met. Participate and provide network architecture support for agency IT projects keeping agency goals and needs at the forefront, keep project team members focused on unified solutions, and promote positive attitudes and teamwork conducive to project successes. Balance maintenance and support needs against project requirements working closely with Project Managers to best provide technical resources to meet all agency’s network architecture needs. Provide realistic expectations and network architecture recommendations to the Project Manager. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology program or closely related field; Six (6) years of professional experience managing enterprise level network, security, and cloud technologies, with at least two (2) years of experience as a Senior Network Technician or equivalent within a medium to large agency, which may be attained concurrently

OR An Associate’s degree or higher in an Information Technology program or a closely related field; AND Eight (8) years of professional experience managing enterprise level network, security, and cloud technologies, with at least two (2) years of experience as a Senior Network Technician or equivalent within a medium to large agency, which may be attained concurrently.

OR Ten (10) years of professional experience managing enterprise level infrastructure and cloud technologies, with at least two (2) years of professional experience managing enterprise level network, security, and cloud technologies, and with at least two (2) years of experience as a Senior Network Technician or equivalent within a medium to large agency, which may be attained concurrently. 5 or more years of recent experience (within the last 5 years) providing technical expertise and senior level escalated support in an organization supporting network and security infrastructure that spans a variety of technology platforms as a Senior level Network Technician.
