Managing Editor of Digital Content Division
Strategic Partnerships, Inc. (SPI), a Texas-based procurement consulting and research firm with a national and international reputation for partnering public- and private-sector entities, has an opening for a Managing Editor for its Digital News Division.
As part of its mission to remain a thought leader in government procurement, SPI has launched Government Market News, the go-to source for original, timely, breaking, and trustworthy reporting on every aspect of the U.S. government marketplace. The firm also publishes two digital newsletters, Texas Government Insider and Government Contracting Pipeline.
SPI is looking for a managing editor who can lead the daily production of Government Market News and oversee the two weekly newsletters. Candidates with either journalism or research background and strong project-management abilities are encouraged to apply.
Please note, this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday in our Austin office, 7500 Rialto Blvd.
Responsibilities:
- Managing daily editorial operations, including assigning, editing, and working with content creators on daily and long-term assignments, ensuring content is accurate, relevant, and on time.
- Ensuring content has relevant and necessary components, including photos, tags, and other metadata.
- Overseeing the transfer of content to platforms, including website, email newsletter, and social media.
- Maintaining a database of daily, weekly, and long-term assignments to ensure content is published consistently.
- Managing a creative team, including matching content to creators and assigning workloads to ensure content creation is always available.
- Managing creators’ time sheets and supervising personnel schedules.
- Hiring, coaching, and supervising personnel.
Requirements and skills:
- Proven experience as managing editor or relevant role.
- Strong capabilities in copywriting and editing.
- Familiarity with AP Guidelines.
- Proficiency in English.
- Knowledge and understanding of government procurement, government in general, business, and public-private partnerships.
- Working knowledge of online platforms like WordPress and SEO concepts.
- Good organizational and leadership skills.
- Outstanding communication and people skills.
- Self-starter, team player, and congenial individual.
