In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and supporting the daily library operations at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Pine Grove. In this role, you will be assisting the Librarian in managing the day-to-day operations of SCI Pine Grove's library, including supervising inmate work, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and answering questions from both inmates and institutional staff. You will also play a key role in promoting reading and learning among the inmate population through programs and resources available in the library. Additionally, you will assist with training and scheduling, as well as hiring and terminating inmate library personnel. Your role will be crucial in facilitating rehabilitation and education for inmates during their time in the correctional facility.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. No work on holidays.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,467.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
