Base pay range

$125,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

Spacecraft Payload Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer with an understanding of digital receiver processors. Individual selected will provide subject matter expertise to support customer decisions with respect to development of spacecraft RF collection payloads and mission capabilities. Individual selected should possess knowledge and experience working with Digital Receiver Processors, ASIC and FPGAs, analog to digital converters and processing algorithms.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing design and development of RF payload systems and components including signal processing units.
  • Applying complex RF specifications, tolerances, simulations, and test procedures for RF payload systems and components.
  • Assisting the Government in developing concept of operations (CONOPS) and approaches to employment of RF systems.
  • Developing RF payload performance models to inform Government systems engineering trades.
  • Supporting Contract Officer Technical Representatives (COTRs) and Developers by coordinating with other technical domain SMEs and program stakeholders to achieve a detailed understanding of the flight systems, designs, and interfaces necessary to satisfy mission requirements.
  • Providing oversight of acquisitions, with specific focus on the RF payload systems elements, functionality, interfaces, manufacture, build, test, and operations to ensure end-to-end system closure and satisfaction of mission need.
  • Reviewing Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables to ensure content, technical accuracy, and sufficiency of design details to meet program requirements and objectives.
  • Participating in technical interchange meetings between developers and COTR.
  • Providing Government customer insight and inputs on contractors development of RF antenna and receiver payload.
  • Providing Government customer inputs supporting payload development and use to include:
    • Analysis of alternatives.
    • Requirements generation, evaluation, and compliance assessments.
    • Critical Technology Element (CTE) identification and assessments, Technology Readiness Assessments (TRA) and Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA).
    • Concept of Operations evaluation and development.
    • Responsible for assessing proposed design updates and identifying performance and spacecraft impacts due to the updates.
    • Responsible for performance assessments of risk reduction plans associated with improving the maturity of the payload design and hardware.
    • Experience in RADAR system operations, waveform usage and processing.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a technical field such as Physics, Math, or Astronautics and 9+ years of experience. Candidates with equivalent educational background and demonstrated experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years' engineering experience with satellite RF systems.
  • Candidates must have a proven ability to effectively work with a large team of Government, FFRDC and SETA contractors as well as major developmental contractors.
  • Applicants should be able to convey complex technical and programmatic issues concisely to senior management and be a flexible and creative problem solver.
  • TS/SCI with poly security clearance required.
