What You’ll Do
A big part of this role is about influence: modeling best practices for UX designers, mentoring junior team members, evolving our UX toolkit and processes, creating buy-in for a user-centered product strategy and contributing your voice to the product design team. Here are more specific details about your responsibilities:
- Analyzing customer, business, product performance metrics and underlying drivers to create data-based recommendations.
- Leading the assessment and benchmarking of competitive user experiences and identifying strategic opportunities based on findings.
- Examining web analytics to inform user interactions and designs.
- Evangelizing Human-Centered Design culture and process.
- Leading the translation of business requirements into simple, usable and compelling interface layouts.
- Leading the creation of comprehensive site maps, user flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes (low/high fidelity).
- Monitoring developments and UX trends within the industry.
- Conducting research with teams and applying insights to generate theories.
- Communicating clearly on a technical level with engineers and other stakeholders.
- Working on complex problems and systems across various interface and interaction types, spaces and user groups.
- Facilitating cross-functional meetings and design workshops.
- Establishing a strong design culture by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and advocating for user-centered design practices.
Who You Are
Whether working solo or collaboratively, you know how to balance big-picture thinking with a detail-oriented approach. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an interest in human behavior and the ability to work on multiple projects/business units simultaneously. You have the following:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years’ experience in a related field
- Experience working with teams on large-scale, long-term projects.
- Experience in client services and negotiating business decisions.
- Experience with group facilitation.
- Experience designing for mobile devices, including responsive design.
- Expertise in user-centered design methods, techniques and principles.
- Excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Figma, Axure and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of Pendo and Optimizely.
- The proven ability (portfolio required) to produce user experience documentation: storyboards, user scenarios/tasks, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, etc.
- The ability to arrange and conduct formal and informal usability tests.
- The ability to establish UX methodology, processes, estimates and deliverables.
- The ability to make intuitive leaps to appropriately hypothesize product design solutions.
- The ability to convincingly articulate ideas and rationale across the company, including the executive suite.
- The ability to deal with ambiguity.
- The ability to stay current on the latest trends and research in product design and web/mobile technologies.
Preferred:
- The ability to develop network/system architecture diagrams.
- Experience with A/B experimentation.
