Project description
This role requires a unique individual that has deep experience working in close proximity with Design Systems, UX & UI Design, Project Management, and Internal Marketing to aid in the adoption and evolution of an established Design System for a major airline. This person will act as the primary champion of our client’s Design System (DS). They will take ownership of long-term progressive enhancements, help to scale strategies, and lead the charge as an authentic and informed system advocate. Focusing on fostering and growing strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, this person will be promoting data-driven decision-making regarding the DS in a way that leads to iterative system improvements and wider inclusion in the client’s ever-expanding ecosystem. This role strives to build trusted relationships with cross-team advocates who support, endorse, and help drive adoption of the Design System throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Advocate for scalable Design System foundations that support product expansion at a platform level. Ensure that the core components and tokens of the DS are both built correctly and being used the right way across teams.
- Ability to share program vision, technical roadmap, and terminology with business and technical stakeholders.
- Project Management & UX Strategy blended with UI Design & Development Sprint Cycles while translating complex industry speech to more common verbiage for documentation and process enablement.
- Facilitate stakeholder communication and outreach via support channels including internal website content.
- Run meetings, team huddles, own internal marketing channels, and create content.
- Join leadership meetings, internal IT conventions (show-and-tells), and platform team meetings to evangelize the program.
- Gather data and insights from product teams to aid in strategically planning.
- Use UX Research metrics and insights to understand what to test and how to test for the answers the team needs to make informed decisions.
- Align design system to product team initiatives and OKRs.
- Share and DS roadmap with Product Management Organization roadmaps and OKRs.
- Visualize and collate all project planning with the PMO’s roadmaps and deliverables.
- Facilitate DS adoption agreements with product teams.
- Champion iterative improvements and updates to the design system based on feedback and data.
- Translate feedback to design team for DS evolution road-mapping & backlog.
SKILLS
Must have
- Knowledge and understanding on the value of community building around enterprise assets (such as design systems, shared data, or cross-enterprise tools).
- Understanding of a Design System lifecycle, how it functions, and what policies and best practices to utilize when collecting adoption metrics & feedback.
- An authentic social connector; ability to identify and form relationships with key influences throughout the organization with ease.
- Strong communication skills, ability to write and converse with both technical and business stakeholders surrounding team/key projects.
- 5+ Years of experience in working directly with a Design System or Design Language System as a contributor, leader, or owner.
- Deep expertise into understanding lifecycles, best practices, tools, and methodologies to promote and refine the system iteratively.
