Job Summary

Our MedVal/PharmaWrite Division provides a comprehensive portfolio of services to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries. We specialize in publication development, publication planning, medical & regulatory writing, scientific strategy, and HCP engagement.

The Medical Writer is committed to the craft and discipline of professional medical writing and to disseminating scientific communications to the appropriate audience using the appropriate medium. Development of client-ready, quality material requires the ability to tell the scientific story of the clinical data and its context in manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and slide decks with keen attention to editorial, reference, and annotation details. The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly process and understand scientific information, as well as learn internal and external content development processes. The position interacts closely with other scientific team members to gain a thorough understanding of the scope and expectations of each project. Scheduling flexibility and timeline prioritization skills are essential for success in this role.

Job Responsibilities and Skills

  1. Write scientific communications based on data and analysis of the therapeutic landscape
  2. Participate in creation of literature analysis and publication plans for specific therapies
  3. Work closely with top opinion leaders in their respective fields as authors to produce scientific content for peer-reviewed medical journals, abstracts, posters, and slide presentations
  4. Support development of medical communications projects, including advisory board and educational content across multiple clients/therapeutic areas
  5. Participate in new business initiatives as needed and assigned
  6. Preparation of content for client review committees
  7. Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure a high level of scientific accuracy, including the development of annotation and referencing guides
  8. Work cross-functionally to incorporate updates and editorial comments
  9. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  1. PharmD, MD, or PhD in life sciences
  2. Prior medical writing experience in a medical communications agency is preferred but not required
  3. Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  4. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  5. Knowledge of GPP3 and ICMJE as well as other best practices relative to medical writers
  6. Ability to convey clinical data in a clear, concise manner
  7. Commitment to scientific accuracy
  8. Ability to work in a team-based, deadline-oriented environment
  9. Ability to consistently deliver work on time
  10. Thorough knowledge of word processing and reference management software
  11. Expectation to obtain AMWA certification within 18 months of employment
  12. Ability to complete some travel as requested
