PR & Marketing Manager – Hudson River Maritime Museum

Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for history and culture? The Hudson River Maritime Museum (HRMM) is seeking a PR & Marketing Manager to lead our communications and marketing efforts. 
 
The successful candidate should be a creative and enthusiastic self-starter with strong planning and organizational skills and have the ability to manage multiple PR/Marketing projects and deadlines. Also required are a keen attention to detail and passion for writing/copy-editing. 
 
The PR & Marketing Manager will manage all marketing and communications and be responsible for media relations, social media platforms, and the website to communicate with the HRMM’s many audiences, promoting its myriad of programming streams and advancing its mission and strategic plan goals. The PR & Marketing Manager will create and employ effective public relations, digital & email marketing, advertising, website, social media, publications, and collateral materials to increase awareness, visitation, attendance, membership, and philanthropic support. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
GENERAL MANAGEMENT:
·       Develop an annual PR calendar as well as process/procedure guidelines for use by program staff
·       Communicate effectively with staff and develop deadlines for program materials
·       Track PR effectiveness and report out on a monthly basis
·       Manage the organization’s seasonal print and/or digital newsletters and annual report by gathering content, compiling and editing articles, and directing layout/distribution with contract graphic designers.
·       Write and distribute organizational media releases and fact sheets, and manage photo opportunities for targeted media. 
·       Host press outlets and film crews onsite, and facilitate successful press experiences. 
 
MARKETING:
·       Cultivate media partnerships to expand museum outreach and audience engagement.
·       Oversee paid print and digital advertising ensuring a timely delivery of assets.
·       Create and/or manage creation of print and digital marketing materials including brochures, direct mail, email campaigns, and other promotional materials, with support from contract graphic designers as needed.
 
DIGITAL MEDIA/ ONLINE
·       Cultivate media partnerships to expand museum outreach and audience engagement.
·       Create, curate and schedule content for uses of core social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube). 
·       Maintain pertinent media calendars. 
·       Update website content, refresh imagery, and monitor the organization’s website. 
 
      GRAPHIC DESIGN: 
·       Create in-house graphics, website graphics, signage, program flyers and paid media advertisements as needed. 
Qualifications 
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) 
  • Experience posting/managing social media for non-profit or corporation. 
  • Familiarity with digital media tools such as Constant Contact, Mail Chimp and/or others is a plus. 
  • Experience working with press and media, as well as a wide array of diverse audiences and/or community organizations 
  • Ability to work some weekends and evenings seasonally and when needed to assist with key special fundraising events, programs and/or press visits.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, or a related field in a corporate, educational, museum, or non-profit environment 
  • Bachelor’s degree, with a concentration in public relations, communications, marketing, or related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. 
  • Experience with museums is a plus.
