General Definition of Work
Under the direction of theInstructional Designer at The Virtual Academy, the Principal, Assistant Principal, and in partnership with other assigned Content Matter Experts, Content Matter Expert (CME) assists with online course development following an asynchronous inquiry model. This is a temporary part-time staff position that does not include teaching responsibilities. Work will be completed remotely over the course of a twelve week period. Individuals hired will be considered for future CME contracts with The Cabarrus Virtual Academy.

Essential Functions
Review and provide feedback on course objectives and goals in alignment with state or national curriculum and standards Help develop performance tasks, assessments, practice and learning for course objectives Find appropriate disciplinary materials including open educational resources (OER) and create resources for learning Write rubrics for assessments and tasks Review and provide feedback on previously developed course material
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to follow curriculum instructional outlines to develop resources, including NC state curriculum and Advanced Placement curriculum Ability to work collaboratively with other CME's, curriculum designers and specialists, and teachers to deliver high-quality content Ability to adapt one's approach to the requirements of a situation and to change tactics. Ability to maintain curriculum guidelines or requirements as established by the State and school system. Ability to effectively interact with principals and other team members. Ability to apply methods of effective instruction Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects. Excellent computer and reporting skills. Knowledge of and ability to use Canvas and Google Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree Knowledge of subject matter Technology proficiency and knowledge of digital learning may be required for certain assignments
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting. Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities. Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
NC Teacher Certification or have qualifications to obtain a NC teacher certifications NC DPI Licensure
