Position Summary:
Miami Regional University is seeking a dedicated Library Technician to assist students and faculty in accessing library resources. In this role, you’ll help users navigate our catalogs and databases, manage circulation processes, and provide excellent customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enforces, maintains and explains MRU and LSD policies and procedures to users
- Inform students on a monthly basis of their account balances. Collects and records all payments.
- Reserve, circulate, renew, and discharge books and other materials.
- Enter and update patrons' records on computers.
- Provide assistance to faculty and students by locating materials and helping to complete school projects.
- Teach students and faculty how to find and use library resources (library catalog, databases, APA Writing Tip/Tools, etc.).
- Answer routine reference inquiries, and refer patrons needing further assistance to Librarians.
- Answer the phone, organize files, and perform other routine clerical tasks.
- Assist librarian with APA Writing Workshop and Research: Tips and Strategies Workshops (Academic Library Technician II only).
- Cataloging of new books and material (Academic Librarian Technician II only).
- Create weekly and monthly statistics reports (Academic Library Technician II only).
- Reasonable and reliable attendance.
- Provide excellent customer service
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree (library work experience may substitute for education).
- At least 3 years of office administration experience, preferably in a library or academic setting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Classification: Hourly
Work Hours: Forty hours per week but may vary daily and weekend hours may be required
Work Location: In person
