About the Company: WineTalent is working with an Eastern Washington based group of estate wineries. The winery group includes luxury, ultra-premium and premium wine offerings through wholesale and direct to consumer sales channels. The company is family owned and operated.
About the Position: The Director of Sales and Marketing will oversee the strategic direction, execution, and performance of sales and marketing initiatives for the winery group. This role is pivotal in driving revenue growth, maintaining premium brand integrity, and ensuring financial and operational efficiencies. The role will be reporting into the executive team and will be managing the wholesale sales, DTC sales and marketing efforts for the portfolio of wine brands.
Responsibilities: The Director of Sales and Marketing will bring a strong background in sales, marketing, and financial management, with experience overseeing cost of goods (COGs), labor budgets, and operational efficiencies while aligning cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. As the leader of the sales and marketing efforts for the company the Director of Sales and Marketing has the following responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to meet revenue and profitability goals
- Establish and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) for all departments, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
- Conduct regular performance reviews, identifying trends, optimizing resources, and driving continuous improvement
- Monitor and manage COGs to ensure profitability while maintaining the quality and integrity of each brand
- Oversee departmental budgets, tracking expenses, labor costs, and overtime to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Partner with finance teams to forecast, manage, and analyze revenue and expenses, providing actionable insights to leadership
- Lead quarterly reforecasting efforts, adjusting strategies to align with financial goals and market demands
- Collaborate with managers to streamline workflows and achieve cost-saving measures
Labor & Resource Oversight
- Track and manage hourly labor, overtime, and staffing levels to ensure efficiency across departments.
- Implement systems to monitor labor performance and productivity
- Guide department managers in improving performance through strategic planning, coaching, and process optimization
- Foster a collaborative culture, driving alignment across marketing, sales and production teams
Market Development & Brand Management
- Expand brand presence in local, regional, and national markets through targeted campaigns and partnerships
- Oversee creative and branding efforts to maintain consistency and elevate each winery’s image
- Strengthen customer loyalty programs, including wine clubs and direct-to-consumer (DTC) channels
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in sales and marketing, with a strong focus on financial and operational management, preferably in the wine industry
- Demonstrated ability to manage COGs, budgets, and labor efficiency, with proven results in reducing costs while maintaining quality
- Strong understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting, and data analysis, with proficiency in financial management tools and systems
- Experience overseeing hourly labor, overtime tracking, and staffing efficiency in compliance with labor laws
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and motivating cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a full-time, salaried position.
- The salary range is $100,000 to $120,000 plus bonus
- Competitive salary plus incentive bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance. Additional benefits include 401(K) with employer match, HSA, PTO, and holiday pay.
