Description -

The Senior Director will act as the Head of Design responsible for driving world-class design across the organization's product and service portfolio. This leader will redefine a design studio at the heart of the company's innovation engine, creating cutting-edge, mid- to lower-funnel product-led assets, as well as asset development spanning Etail, Retail, sales kits, HP.com, digital media, newsletters, and more. The work will live across a global footprint, and this leader will also manage a large, globally distributed team. In addition to overseeing creative asset production, this role involves aligning all stakeholders on comprehensive asset creation needs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management: Lead and manage a global studio team (in-house and agency partner), set design systems, elevate the quality of creative (product & design led), foster collaboration, and ensure team & output success. We want someone to help build a best-in-class studio & design quality.
  2. Design Strategy: Oversee execution of design strategies across product & platforms, and ensure alignment with HP's brand identity.
  3. Quality Assurance: Deliver high-quality design solutions, maintain HP's standards of excellence in aesthetics, usability, process, and functionality.
  4. User-Centric Approach: Focus on how something looks, feels, and functions for users, while ensuring brand consistency.
  5. Communications (Product) Design: Craft visual materials for HP's products and services, inspiring customers (internally and externally) worldwide.
  6. Cultural Catalyst: Foster an environment where design thrives, diversity is celebrated, bias for action is encouraged, and collaboration is second nature.
  7. Collaboration and Influence: Partner closely with cross-functional teams, agency, product, marketing, and sales to bring HP's product/design assets to life.
  8. Holistic Design Systems: Be the guardian of the brand VIS ID and design systems that ensure consistency and impact, globally.
  9. Digital First: Have a digital-first mentality to design and asset creation.
  10. Product Led: Product-led studio assets are the foundation of tech companies - we need someone that is product obsessed and can bring a high level of design and consistency.
  11. Financial Management: A high level understanding of financial management, budgets, and how to map to KPIs.
  12. Global Lens: Guides and oversees design systems, best practices, standardization & direction to regional marketing teams (USA, LATAM, China, India, etc.) to ensure a consistent global approach.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience: Extensive experience in design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to lead and deliver impactful studio and design-led projects.
  2. Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing and developing creative design (or studio) teams, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  3. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in design and prototyping software, as well as an understanding of AI tools and UX principles.
  4. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically about design and its role in achieving marketing and business objectives.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and strategies to stakeholders at all levels.
  6. Tech Curiosity: You're not just a design wizard; you're also deeply curious about technology.
  7. Change Agility: HP Studio moves fast - and is global, you'll need to pirouette gracefully through ambiguity, embracing new processes and adapting to change.
  8. Typically has 15+ years of job-related and/or management experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $183,650 - $275,450 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
