Whether we’re working digitally through SEO, PPC and Display marketing or via offline channels like TV, Print, Radio, Door Drops or Out of Home advertisements, our goal is always meaningful connections.

The UM Media team carry out media planning and buying on behalf of clients. We nurture effective relationships with cross-channel and offline only clients and take the lead on media planning decision making.

Your Key Responsibilities

We are in the middle of a period of growth and are looking for a Media Apprentice hungry to support across admin and finance tasks, as well as learning the foundations of media planning and buying across a range of channels (including TV, Cinema, Audio, Out of Home, Press and Online). The role will involve integration with other areas of the media team and wider agency as we seek to deliver truly integrated media services to our clients. This role will be offline-focused but with some involvement in digital channels.

The right candidate will be given training across the evolving media landscape; media planning theory and tools; offline media trading and associated tools for booking and invoicing; negotiation skills; best practice client servicing, to name just a few areas.

You will need to keep the media team running smoothly, effectively and efficiently by providing top-class administrative support which pre-empts client requirements, ensures successful delivery of jobs for clients, maintains a profitable service and goes the extra mile in representing UM Bristol.

Core Duties:

  • Supporting the team across a number of administrative tasks including finance/invoicing, updating trackers and reporting.
  • Offline media buying – Print, Radio, Outdoor and Direct media, with some involvement in online channels too.
  • Creating daily, weekly and monthly reports using Excel.
  • Media planning research using industry standard and agency-owned tools.
  • Assisting with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations.
  • Undertake ad-hoc reporting for the wider media team as and when required.
  • Always act as a positive advocate for the company.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Passionate about the media landscape.
  • Strong administrative skills and computer literate, i.e. good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint in particular.
  • Strong Time Management skills - Ability to prioritise workloads while working to multiple deadlines.
  • Can do positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • 5 GCSEs grade A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English and Maths).

About the apprenticeship:

This Level 3 Advertising and Media Apprenticeship through Apprentify is designed to support the overall advertising process. The primary focus of the role is to assist with the day-to-day operations, starting from receiving the brief from the marketing team, which includes details such as objectives, budget, and timelines, all the way through to assessing the effectiveness of the advertisement. The apprentice will help keep campaigns on track, managing setbacks and last-minute changes while demonstrating strong teamwork and maintaining positive relationships.

As part of your Advertising and Media Executive Level 3 apprenticeship, you will complete the IPA Foundation Certificate from The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA). The IPA are the advertising industry’s professional body and support thousands of advertising professionals every year to update their skills, set standards for the advertising industry and determine best practice for advertising agencies across the UK.
