Scopely is looking for a Senior VFX Artist to join our Monopoly Go! team.

Monopoly GO! is our new casual game and a key franchise that has just become one of Scopely’s largest games enjoyed by millions of players. The team is based in Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.

What You Will Do

As a VFX artist, you will collaborate with people across multiple disciplines, bringing life to new features, minigames, and boards. You will spend time working alongside the entire art team, tech artists, and designers to help elevate gameplay, innovate technically and artistically, and push the quality bar even higher.

  1. Create VFX in Unity, using particle systems, meshes, textures, shader effects and animations
  2. Actively integrate the VFX in the feature or environment, working alongside Technical and Integration Artists
  3. Collaborate with game designers, feature owners, and art leads to refine and iterate on feedback, bringing the project's artistic vision to life.
  4. Work within the style of Monopoly GO! and use ingenuity to ensure all created assets are optimized for mobile devices
  5. Collaborate with other art disciplines when bringing features to life, and assist and support them when needed with technical expertise
  6. Communicate updates, blockers and concerns to production and leadership

What We’re Looking For

  1. 3+ years of mobile game development experience
  2. Mastery of Unity and the Shuriken particle system. Abilities include: importing assets, particle systems, understanding custom shader data, animation workflow, UI/sprite/canvas and material setup, flipbook/spritesheet creation
  3. Proficient in 2D texture creation: Photoshop or equivalent painting software
  4. Experience in 3D modeling: 3dsMax, Maya, Blender, etc
  5. Great communication and collaboration skills, and able to work in an agile team environment
  6. Strong understanding of animation principles and timing
  7. Strong understanding of color theory
  8. Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and take ownership of your tasks

Bonus Points

  1. Experience creating preview sequences and animations in After Effects or similar
  2. Understanding of either node-based shader workflow or CG/HLSL shader code
  3. Experience working with or having a stylised or cartoon effects portfolio
  4. Passion for video games, keeping up to date with new techniques and workflows in the industry
