Macguffin Co. is developing our newest offering, THE SCHMORANGES, a multimedia children’s entertainment franchise now in production. As we develop this concept, we’re looking for a talented Editor to join our creative team and help bring this project to life.
Position Overview:
As Editor you will play a crucial role in shaping the narrative, tone, and overall quality of the story arc and character development for THE SCHMORANGES. You’ll collaborate closely with our Creative Director, writers, illustrators, and production team to ensure that every story, script, and piece of content resonates with our young audience and embodies the spirit of the franchise. If you have a passion for storytelling, a keen eye for detail, and a love for children’s entertainment, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Review and edit text and scripts, storyboards, and other written content to ensure clarity, coherence, and alignment with the franchise’s voice and vision.
2. Collaborate with the writers and Creative Director to brainstorm ideas, refine story arcs, and develop engaging characters and themes.
3. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to writers and illustrators, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
4. Ensure all content is age-appropriate, educational, and entertaining, while also adhering to industry standards and best practices.
5. Work alongside our production team to oversee the editing process, ensuring that the final product meets our high-quality standards.
6. Maintain organized records of all content revisions and edits, ensuring that all team members are updated and aligned.
7. Stay current with trends in children's entertainment and literature to inspire fresh ideas and innovative approaches.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Proven experience as an editor, preferably in children’s literature, animation, or entertainment.
3. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
4. A genuine passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of what resonates with children and families.
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse creative personalities.
6. Familiarity with children’s media and a keen interest in current trends and themes in the industry.
7. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
