Library Media Specialist at All Saints Catholic School (Richmond)

All Saints Catholic School is seeking a dynamic Library Media Specialist to develop and implement a comprehensive library and technology program that enhances student learning.

The successful candidate will foster a love of reading, integrate technology into the curriculum, and promote information literacy among students. This position involves managing library resources, collaborating with faculty to support curriculum goals, and guiding students in developing critical research and thinking skills, all while overseeing technology management to further support digital learning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a school library program that encourages a love of reading and supports academic excellence.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate library resources and technology into the curriculum.
  • Guide students in developing research, information literacy, and critical thinking skills.
  • Promote digital literacy and facilitate the use of technology tools in learning.
  • Manage library resources, including print materials, e-books, and multimedia content, ensuring they are accessible and aligned with curriculum goals.
  • Provide instruction on library and research skills, and support the development of students’ digital citizenship.
  • Oversee technology management for digital learning initiatives, including maintaining hardware and software resources.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events and programs, such as author visits, book fairs, and reading challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience in a school library or educational setting, with knowledge of library and information management.
  • Familiarity with integrating technology and digital tools into the learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Passion for reading, learning, and supporting student growth.
  • Knowledge of educational technology and its application to classroom learning is essential.
  • Ability to manage a variety of resources, maintain organization, and meet deadlines.
