The Grant Writer at Unbound will help expand and diversify funding sources and fulfill both pre-award and post-award roles and duties within the grants program. The Grant Writer will assist in identifying and researching potential funding opportunities, as well as contribute to the full range of activities required to prepare and submit timely, compelling, and polished proposals and budgets, to foundations, corporations, and government sources. This role will prepare and submit Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), grant applications, and grant reports, and will maintain documents and program information required by funders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Grant Program:

  • Support a comprehensive grants program that generates $1m+/year in targeted funding.
Proposal Development:
  • Conduct prospect research and identify funding opportunities.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of high-quality project proposals to foundations, corporations, and government sources.
  • Prepare Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) and grant applications.
  • Prepare grant project budgets for Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) and grant applications.
Grant Reporting and Compliance:
  • Maintain necessary documents and program information for funders.
  • Prepare interim and final budgets for grant reports.
  • Prepare and submit interim and final grant progress reports per grant reporting deadlines.
Internal Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with team members and/or other departments to gather information required for proposals.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of Unbound's programs and initiatives to
effectively advocate for funding.
  • Provide support for other fundraising and department initiatives as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., English, Communications, Nonprofit Management).
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, grant databases, and moderate to advanced computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively manage and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience in budget development and proficiency with creating spreadsheets.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and be open to new ideas with the ability to listen carefully, try new things, suggest alternatives, and solve challenges.

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English or other relevant languages is a plus.
