Core Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Broadcast Engineer at Newsmax, you will be an integral part of our technical team, ensuring that all systems in our Boca Raton facility run smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise will help us maintain high-quality broadcasts, keeping our viewers connected to the latest news.
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance on all technical systems in the facility to ensure optimal performance.
- Plan and execute software updates and upgrades, ensuring all equipment stays current and functional.
- Design, test, and integrate new equipment, ensuring our operations stay at the forefront of broadcasting technology.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation for all systems, procedures, and processes.
- Collaborate with Operations and Production teams to assess technical improvements and implement solutions.
- Assist with various technical duties, including camera shading, level setting, and intercom programming during live broadcasts.
- Coordinate with Networking and IT departments on service requests and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
- Monitor HVAC and power systems, addressing critical issues and alerting vendors when necessary.
- Make configuration changes and perform thorough testing in preparation for Special Events, ensuring everything runs seamlessly.
- Work closely with Technical Managers to prepare studios and control rooms for production, including checking lights, cameras, microphones, and IFBs.
- Maintain compliance with broadcast standards and industry best practices, ensuring top-tier quality.
Position Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required—what matters most is your passion and expertise in broadcasting.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in a live news operation or an event-driven broadcasting environment.
- Strong knowledge of Broadcast Audio and Video standards, ensuring high-quality outputs.
- In-depth understanding of A/V and networking signal flow to troubleshoot and optimize systems.
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Dante, SDI, NDI, ENPS, and OnCue Prompters.
- Experience with the setup and operation of Newtek TriCaster, Behringer Wing, and conventional Analog Audio Gear.
- Bonus points for experience with Clearcom Eclipse and a deep understanding of multimedia file formats and codecs.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and handle high-stress situations with ease.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, based on production demands.
