The Junior Buyer is responsible for strategic assortment selection and maintenance using sales data and market trends. This role manages a portfolio of brands, supporting the retail strategy through careful planning and selecting products that align with targeted demographics to support achievement of departmental KPIs. Key responsibilities include developing and fostering vendor relationships to gain insights into emerging trends, assortments, and business strategies. The role involves conducting thorough market research to stay informed about industry developments and competitor activities, analyzing sales data to optimize product assortments, and supporting the development and execution of promotional plans. Additional duties include monitoring brand performance, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure target achievement through accurate inventory levels, floor plans and execution on-board. Travel up to 15%.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and fosters vendor relationships to build long term relationships, establishing trust and ensuring profitable and sustainable growth for the Fashion Accessories Category.
- Analytics –Possess strong business acumen and financial analysis skills. Analyze sales trends against brand targets and partners with Category Management and Activity Management to develop brand optimization strategies.
- Ensures competitive pricing is aligned to the Travel Retail Sector and accurately reflected. Conducts supplier price list check to ensure margin agreements are enforced.
- Proactively gathers, analyzes and drives insight from the competitive landscape, Sales and Category Management teams and cross functional partners across all channels for pre-season planning and hindsight assortment reviews.
- Owns assortment planning, product selection and assortment architecture via product clusters for assigned brands.
- Collaborates with internal cross-functional partners in the deployment of assortment updates and novelty launches; including marketing, visual merchandising, promotions/activity management, as well as exit strategies that protect brand integrity and minimize margin impact.
- Partners with Demand Planning to review and submit forecasts to suppliers as a way ensure product availability and optimum fill rates.
- Coordinates request and delivery of branded displays from supply partners of assigned brands.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts margin analysis to enforce vendor commercial conditions.
- Ensures pricing accuracy is maintained.
- Responsible for obtaining inventory markdown, liquidation, and/or destruction support from vendors to reduce aging inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in business administration, marketing, or related field.
- 2 years as assistant buyer, experience in fashion accessories category preferred.
- Understanding of travel retail environment. Cruise retail knowledge preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytics and retail math skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong analytical skills.

- Excellent communication and presentations skills.
- Software skills: Excel, PowerPoint.
- SAP/BI knowledge preferred.
