SENIOR MEDICAL EDITOR

Role: The Editorial Department edits copy to ensure that it can pass the rigorous scrutiny of our clients’ medical-legal-regulatory committees and aligns with FDA guidance.
The Senior Medical Editor is the owner of quality control for assigned brands’ marketing materials, both print and digital. The Senior Medical Editor collaborates with assigned brand teams and the editorial department to ensure work is done on time, within budgeted hours, flawlessly edited, and accurately referenced. A key success factor for this role is the ability to prioritize assigned projects and multitask, remaining calm under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Edit all materials in multiple media (presentations, print, digital, patient support materials, etc.) and at every stage of development from manuscript/layout through proofs/staging.
- Edit for organization, style, flow, accuracy and clarity of message, grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, and adherence to client/brand and FDA guidelines.
- Fact check materials on assigned accounts and in support of other editor’s accounts, as needed.
- Compile and maintain style guides for all assigned client accounts.
- Keep team members informed of any significant editorial concerns on specific jobs.
- Demonstrate high proficiency with AMA style and FDA guidelines and comprehension of scientific and medical material.
- Be familiar with all products and the client’s objectives, including product information, visual aids, pivotal trials, journal articles, and related promotional materials.
- Prioritize workload for many projects simultaneously. Adhere to all deadlines and submit accurate timesheets on a weekly basis.
Quality Control -- Achieves thoroughness and accuracy in all projects. Approaches all work with a solid process orientation. Reviews materials to ensure they are accurate, clear, and on target.
Team Player -- Sets a positive example when collaborating, tackles new challenges with enthusiasm, and brings team members together to achieve results.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of pharmaceutical advertising experience
- 3-5 years of medical editing experience
- Good working knowledge of AMA style and FDA requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Confidence with technical and medical subject matter
