Cadence Group is seeking an innovative, future-focused Technical Librarian with experience in cataloging, e-resources, Intranets, and websites to support an award-winning federal library in Washington, D.C. The Technical Librarian works as part of a team of three professionals responsible for operating the library. The position is responsible for the print and electronic collection, including cataloging, e-resource management, maintaining the Integrated Library System (ILS), managing links and content on a Drupal-based Intranet, supporting LibGuides, and responding to general reference requests. The qualified candidate will be responsible for ensuring all obligations of the project are met within the established deadlines.
This is a hybrid position requiring three (3) days onsite and two days of telework. Applicants must live within the D.C. metro area and be available to work onsite.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution
- Minimum two (2) years of work experience in library technical services operations, including performing original and copy cataloging and applying metadata
- Hands-on experience with the MARC 21 and RDA standards
- Strong knowledge and work experience using Library of Congress classification schema
- Experience with principles of authority control, including creating, selecting, and applying controlled vocabularies to local collections
- Experience in administration, configuration, and daily operations of an Integrated Library System (ILS). OCLC WorldShare Management Services experience preferred
- Website experience in designing, editing, developing, and maintaining content for intranet webpages and web-based information systems
- Experience with HTML and CSS is required, and Drupal experience is preferred
- Exposure to IP management. EZProxy experience preferred
- Experience in and/or practical working knowledge of library automation, and simple PC troubleshooting techniques
- Experience working with law and/or business collections preferred
