Digital Media Specialist
Reports To: Associate Director of Marketing and Communications
Oak Knoll School seeks a creative and motivated Digital Media Specialist to join our award-winning Marketing and Communications team. This role is an exciting opportunity to use your storytelling abilities and technical expertise to shape and amplify the voice of our school community. Through innovative digital content — video, photography, social media, and graphic design — you will help build connections and highlight the stories and mission that make Oak Knoll unique. Your work will empower everyone across our school to feel seen, included, and celebrated while advancing our vision for enriching the student experience and increasing our reach to prospective families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bring Oak Knoll’s story to life by regularly developing original concepts for social media videos for a variety of platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and other digital channels.
- Record, edit, and produce multiple engaging videos a week for social media (think hype videos that showcase the personality of the school).
- Lead and mentor student social media ambassadors, empowering them to contribute authentic content that amplifies student voice and showcases their Oak Knoll experience.
- Take captivating still photography in classrooms and at school events to document student life and support campaigns across print and digital marketing initiatives.
- Develop and curate thoughtful, engaging content for Oak Knoll’s social media channels and maintain a consistent posting schedule.
- Monitor social media performance using analytics tools to enhance audience engagement, optimize strategies, and increase Oak Knoll’s reach and visibility while staying on top of trends and changes in the field.
- Create dynamic, visually appealing graphics for use in social media, email campaigns, and event marketing that align with Oak Knoll’s branding and tone.
- Manage the process of storyboarding, scripting, scheduling, interviewing, and logistical coordination for multimedia projects with a focus on efficiency, creativity, and excellence while collaborating with subject area experts across campus.
- Maintain and organize the school’s digital media library for easy access and use.
- Contribute footage and ideation for Oak Knoll’s annual Christmas video and other videos throughout the year.
- Perform basic administrative duties as needed, including website editing, email editing and deployment, newsletter design, etc.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
- Demonstrated digital media production experience (independent school or nonprofit experience a plus).
- Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, etc.), plus an in-depth track record of social media use with Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc.
- Expertise in shooting and editing high-definition video with a keen eye for creative visual storytelling.
- Hands-on experience in managing content calendars and executing social media strategies, including using analytics tools to track performance and trends.
- Ability to balance multiple projects, meet deadlines, and remain flexible in a dynamic environment.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with a positive, inclusive approach to teamwork.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passion for creating visual content that highlights individuality, community, and connection.
