Position Description

  • This position supports SJSO public relations, media relations, and production initiatives by implementing and managing the development of strategic video, audio, graphics, and other forms of digital media.
  • Candidates with journalism experience may have the opportunity to assist with Public Information Officer (PIO) responsibilities.
  • Starting salary range is $53,500 - 56,500
  • Entire pay grade range is $53,500 - 78,500

Responsibilities

  • Produces, edits, and coordinates photographic, video techniques, and graphic design projects processes for SJSO social media pages, website, presentations, studio productions and other agency multimedia initiatives.
  • Performs multimedia pre-production, production and post-production including conceptualizing, pitching, scripting, storyboarding, filming/recording, editing, color-correction, captioning and distributing final products.
  • Researches and identifies multimedia concepts in support of SJSO goals and objectives.
  • Assists in tracking, monitoring, and communicating news relevant to SJSO operations.
  • Assists with response to media and public inquiries by communicating accurate and timely information.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of multimedia and production industry trends and techniques, and establishes professional contacts within the industry.
  • Performs field photography and videography in direct support of SJSO initiatives and events, including (but not limited to) press conferences, new hire ceremonies, programs, activities, award ceremonies, and special teams demonstrations.
  • Due to the complexity of the law enforcement mission, other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university (graphic design, digital media, production, web-based technologies, or journalism related education is preferred); a combination of education and experience related to the position may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Proficient/experienced in Adobe Creative Suite and graphic design/video editing programs (Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, Lightroom, After Effects, Express, Canva, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and advanced computer skills.
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak, and write the English language.
  • Basic knowledge of general office equipment.
