DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Management
- Oversee the regional technical operational strategy for a team responsible for providing creative, high-quality and customized live event experiences through professional quality video, audio, lighting, and presentation to allow the client and external partners to connect and communicate their message in a distinct and technologically innovative way to colleagues and customers alike.
- Provide technical consultation on technical broadcast approach and design of productions.
- Lead the development and documentation of best practices for all regional event spaces including production and technology configurations to ensure top level of production quality and consistency.
- Design the structure regional preventative maintenance procedures and facility plans to ensure locations remain operationally ready.
- Perform and execute onsite quarterly and annual maintenance for all sites within regional assignment.
- Serve as the primary escalation point of contact for all equipment troubleshooting, service and maintenance needs with assigned region.
- Determine repair and maintenance needs and then facilitate resolutions to ensure operational readiness of client facility.
- Ensure all discrepancies are communicated and resolved to the clients' satisfaction and in a timely manner.
- Oversee the implementation and continual development of a training program to develop personnel and ensure they have the skillset and knowledge to effectively perform their roles and provide recommendations and opportunities for advancing capabilities.
- Collaborate on the assessment and recommendation of solutions around technical and operational strategy of studio and event spaces based on production requirements.
- Provide guidance on post-mortems of webcasts and fully analyze what went right, what went wrong, and make recommendations for future improvements.
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required.
Technical Events
- Lead the production design, setup, and configuration of all necessary control room elements to ensure a high-quality event for client productions.
- Maintain all relevant hardware, equipment, and production assets and oversee testing and quality check on all items.
- Oversee the operational approach to fulfill the creative production needs for client events, including but not limited to:
- Technical directing
- Audio mixing
- Robotic cameras
- Virtual platforms
- Graphics
- Video playback
- Streaming
- Lighting design
- Teleprompter
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in the area of event production, broadcast, audio/visual and video production, or another similar field.
- 3+ years of experience in onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events.
- Video engineering and strategic technical management experience.
- Experience leading decision-making for control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback software.
- Knowledge of virtual production and meeting platforms.
- A keen eye for detail with a knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production.
- Track record of being organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential.
- Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective.
- Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white glove service.
- Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in strategic execution of daily responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high pressure situations
- Ability to communicate challenging aspects to clients while maintaining a high level of confidence and leadership
- Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication
- Ability to collect and analyze metrics, extract trending data, and provide continuous improvement recommendations.
Nice-to-have skills
- Experience with Ross production environments and video switchers including Ultrix routers, Carbonite and Ultra switchers.
- Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
- Experience with Panasonic PTZ Cameras.
- Familiarity with post-production software including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
- College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or similar field.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL offices.
- Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work.
