Key Responsibilities:

Aerial Construction & Maintenance Support:
  • Assist Aerial Linemen and Foremen with the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic cables and utility poles.
  • Assist with the rigging, hoisting, and placement of equipment and materials for aerial installations.
  • Prepare and stage materials, tools, and equipment needed for aerial work, ensuring they are readily available on-site.
  • Help with the removal of old or damaged telecommunications lines, poles, and equipment, preparing for new installations.
  • Assist with the installation of anchors, poles, crossarms, and other support structures used in aerial construction.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe working practices.
  • Follow safety protocols while working around high-voltage equipment and at heights.
  • Ensure a clean and organized job site, free of debris or hazards.
  • Assist in conducting safety checks and inspections of equipment and materials before work begins.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment issues to the Foreman or Supervisor immediately.
Equipment Handling & Maintenance:
  • Assist in the operation of aerial work platforms, bucket trucks, and other equipment as directed.
  • Handle and move tools, materials, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic maintenance and upkeep of tools and equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions to the Foreman.
  • Ensure equipment is safely stored and ready for the next job.
Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Aerial Linemen and Foreman to ensure smooth and effective job site operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure work is completed on time and safely.
  • Assist in training less experienced team members and provide guidance on safe practices.
  • Follow directions from the Foreman and contribute to the overall success of the project.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Assist in completing basic reports on daily activities, equipment used, and any issues encountered during the workday.
  • Report any damage, delays, or safety concerns to the Foreman in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of tools, materials, and equipment used on the job.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in construction, telecommunications, or utility installation is a plus but not required.
    • Ability to work safely with aerial construction equipment and tools.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of aerial work processes, including pole setting, cable pulling, and rigging.
    • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
    • Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions carefully.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and challenging terrains.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist with heavy lifting and material handling.
    • Ability to work at heights, including climbing poles or operating aerial lifts.
    • Willingness to perform manual labor and physically demanding tasks.
