We are seeking a creative, thoughtful and knowledgeable designer to help us craft the future of shared micromobility hardware. In this role, you will work alongside the SF based design team and imagine industry leading hardware products and experiences start-to-finish through concepting, prototyping, detailed refinement, and DFM support. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on industrial designer to make an impact delivering sustainable, intuitive, and lasting mobility solutions at a fast-moving company. While Lime is remote-first, this role is based in the SF Bay Area where Lime has its San Francisco Hardware Development Lab and Headquarters. It is a hybrid role that includes regular weekly time in the lab for in-person design activities. What You'll Do:
Collaborate closely with the ID and ME team to innovate the best in class shared mobility hardware – now and in the future. Create and present elegant industrial design work for compelling, mass-produced mobility products – with an eye towards manufacturability and durability. Provide thoughtful multifaceted design solutions with all of Lime stakeholders in mind: Riders, Ops, Engineering. Collaborate and contribute to ID team deliverables from problem statement or research insight through brainstorming, concept sketching, mock-ups, prototyping, concept refinement, and CMF to the final delivery. Own and lead projects collaborating with cross-functional teams from start to finish proactively seeking feedback and escalating risks. Create lightweight, rapid concept mock-ups for stakeholder review and develop great designs through iterative prototyping at our in-house 3D print lab and metal shop. Bring a well-rounded design process including: sketching, high quality visual communication including rendering and presentation storytelling, iterative prototyping, complex 3D surface development, and detailed documentation. About You:
You are a curious, organized and hands-on industrial designer that likes to prototype and test your ideas. You love to think broadly connecting culture, and experience attributes to your architectural design ideas. You are a proactive team player, eager to jump in and contribute to the team’s goals. You are comfortable to move projects forward with nebulous goals and direction. You have experience designing products from start to finish collaborating with engineering development and defending key details to maintain ID and UX integrity. You hold a high bar for excellence in industrial design. You are comfortable working with stakeholders to understand complex problems and identifying pragmatic paths forward based on design impact. Preferred Qualifications:
BA in Industrial Design with 5+ years of industrial design experience. A portfolio showcasing recent products you’ve designed (and that were manufactured) which displays a refined aesthetic sense, polished skillset, and a thorough ID process. Proficiency with Solidworks, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience developing ruggedized, transportation or micromobility products. Experience working with overseas teams and vendors. Ability to travel to Lime markets and factories in the US, Europe, and Asia as needed. The anticipated salary range for this position is $142,000 - $196,000. Annual performance bonus, equity and benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, depending on the position offered. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s location of residence, the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications. If you want to make an impact, Lime is the place for you. Not sure if you meet all the qualifications? If this role excites you we encourage you to apply. Lime is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we believe different perspectives help us grow and achieve more. That’s why we’re dedicated to hiring and developing the most talented and globally diverse team – which includes individuals with different backgrounds, abilities, identities and experiences.
