The Emerging Artists Program Director is a mentor and well-connected individual, with expertise in supporting and drawing out student, audience, and peer engagement. Description Program Directors provide exceptional opportunities to help manage aspects of BE Dance education and training. They have significant artistic responsibility as instructors, choreographers, and production assistants. In addition, Program Directors support the Executive Artistic Director in managing education and training initiatives and their outreach programs. This position requires individuals who can take direction and collaborate well with fellow Program Directors, Marketing, Development, and Finance team members, while also exercising considerable independence and initiative. Responsibilities include managing students of various ages, communicating effectively (both written and verbally) with customers and collaborators, establishing class and rehearsal schedules, and managing time optimally. Responsibilities include the development and management of new and existing programming and partnerships, hiring and training teaching artists, developing and maintaining collaborative relationships internally and in the community, and recruitment and growth of dedicated program and organization reach. Program Directors are responsible for the development and implementation of program curriculum, events, workshops, community engagement initiatives, etc., in keeping with the mission and values of BE Dance and under the artistic vision and leadership of the Artistic Director. The Emerging Artists Studio is designed to further the artistry and training of students ages 18 - 25 interested in pursuing professional careers in dance. The program enhances and maximizes student artistry and creativity by providing the highest caliber dance education, offering classes, performances, workshops, and professional opportunities for students to progress their professional dance careers. Emerging Artists will be given apprenticeship opportunities to perform with BE Dance Theatre. Acceptance into the Emerging Artists Program is by formal invitation and/or audition only. The Emerging Artists Program Director is responsible for all audition and recruitment efforts. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Shape the focus of the program in accordance with the organization's mission, values, and the vision of the Artistic Director. Develop and maintain long-term partnerships. In partnership with fellow Program Directors and the Artistic Director, create and maintain curriculum for designated studio program. Hire, manage, train, and provide professional development opportunities for teaching artists. Engage, direct, and evaluate staff and teaching artists in all administrative aspects (scheduling, communications, monitoring, disseminating and assessing evaluations, soliciting partners, and all other administrative needs). Create and maintain detailed success metrics for programs. Create and direct all education research initiatives. Liaise with artistic staff to facilitate effective creation and implementation of programs, performances, workshops, and other events. Collaborate with marketing to develop supporting materials to further the development, promotion, and visibility of programs within the community, locally, nationally, and abroad. Collaborate with the development department to explore new funding opportunities, report on current grants, and draft language in support of new grant applications. Collaborate with the finance department to establish and work within budgets. Design and implement special projects as needed. Help manage daily communications with students, parents, customers, alumni, and community partners. Instruct dance classes, workshops, etc. Schedule classes and rehearsals. Choreograph and rehearse students for performances, as well as help manage productions. Successfully attract and recruit new students and teachers to maintain and scale the program. Schedule and manage costume fittings and photo sessions as deemed necessary. Introduce studio programs to prospective students by telephone, email, and in person. Foster ongoing recruitment activities. Serve as the principal spokesperson for the designated program and its initiatives. Instill the joy and passion of dance throughout the designated studio to engage long-term, lifelong commitment to the arts, especially where dance is concerned. Nurture and grow the designated program to ensure maximum earned income potential and student personal development. QUALIFICATIONS Professional concert dance company experience, bachelor or master's degree from an accredited university in Dance or Arts Management and/or equivalent experience. Teaching and choreographic experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Creativity and innovation to develop and improve existing processes. Strong interpersonal skills. Computer skills and proficiency in iOS and MAC systems.
