Department/Product Overview:
Investor’s Business Daily seeks an Assistant Markets Editor to help oversee a team of writers producing articles and related content on stocks and other investments. Our goal is to help IBD customers make more money in the stock market through content that explains the market’s mechanics and sound investing methods, analyzes the latest market action, and provides timely news and analysis about the best stocks. This position is expected to be remote; however, working from IBD’s Los Angeles headquarters is also an option.

About the Role/Position:
The Assistant Markets Editor, along with others including the Markets Editor, will make assignments to IBD’s market writers and edit their content for the Investors.com website and IBD Weekly newspaper. You will also write some market articles of your own. The ideal candidate will bring excellent writing and editing skills and a strong understanding of stocks and financial markets, although the position offers an excellent opportunity to further build investing expertise. You’ll be able to participate in the success of IBD’s content through various incentives and to contribute ideas on creating new content that will help readers invest successfully.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Assign, edit, and optimize engaging and well-sourced articles that benefit investors, leveraging IBD’s stock market research and investing principles as appropriate.
- Keep up to date on news and trends related to stocks and the overall market, including IBD indexes and stock performance lists.
- Ensure content is optimized well for SEO and engagement, including web headlines, SEO page titles, URLs, meta descriptions, and keywords, as well as hyperlinks inserted in the body of articles.
- Use databases, stock charts, and other financial tools to guide assignments to reporters. IBD stock research services are crucial tools to master and use daily; training will be provided.
- Use real-time and historical metrics to gauge content performance.
- Help increase content exposure and engagement, such as by curating topic pages, participating in social media, creating newsletters, and sending alerts.
- Write articles on stocks and related topics.
- May participate in the production of videos such as by appearing in videos to discuss stock market news and trends.
Knowledge/Experience Preferred:
- Strong knowledge of the markets, stocks, and investing, and a passion to learn more.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least five years of experience as a reporter or editor, including some financial journalism.
- Strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and accuracy in your writing and editing.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including headline writing.
- Good people and communication skills.

Preferred Tools/Skills:
- Proficient in data analytics tools such as Parse.ly, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, and Chartbeat.
