About the Job:
The AVP of Fashion specializes in generating opportunities, writing and developing dynamic pitches and executing day-to-day media relations efforts. This role plays an integral part in ideation and brainstorming across the division. They maintain strong relationships with national and regional media outlets. Senior-level staff are also a cheerleader for the agency -- suggesting new initiatives for team building and keeping a positive work environment. With a roster of dynamic fast-growing clients, you will craft messaging, and leverage media relationships to create compelling narratives that support the client's vision and mission.
Position Reports to: Senior Vice President of Fashion Division
Your Responsibilities:
- Developing PR strategies and dynamic pitches to meet client objectives and goals; going above and beyond traditional pitching efforts to suggest interesting media activations to support brand objectives.
- Strategic planning and execution of outreach plan with little to no changes from Senior Vice President / Managing Director.
- Ensure all teams are meeting client goals and objectives; keep teams on track.
- Heavy pitching and securing feature stories, brand stories, etc. on a national and regional level across online, print, broadcast and podcast media.
- Spearhead thought leadership media opportunities for clients / founders.
- Work alongside JBC’s specialized divisions including Executive Speaking to ensure all clients are speaking at the appropriate panels and events (both in person or digital), as well as put forward for broadcast interviews (business and consumer) and trend segment opportunities.
- Drafting of press releases.
- Oversee monthly client reporting and the updating of client materials.
- Communicating with clients regularly via email, phone and in person and building strong relationships with clients.
- Communicating daily with high-level editors/media.
- Managing and mentoring junior and mid-level staff.
- Participate in new business opportunities for JBC and support in the drafting of new business proposals.
Requirements:
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- A strong editorial network of business, fashion, and retail editors and writers.
- A clear vision of the industry and competitive landscape.
- Naturally proactive, with outstanding attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills.
- A people person, skilled at building rapport and collaborating across teams.
- Skilled writer and communicator.
- Ability to both balance many priorities and act resourcefully, all while maintaining a positive attitude.
