Are you a creative visionary with a passion for design? Texas A&M University and Mays Business School are seeking a talented Graphic Designer II to join our dynamic team!

What we want

The Graphic Designer II leads the creation and execution of innovative digital content that captivates and inspires action among faculty, students, and staff within Mays Business School. As a Graphic Designer II, you will lead projects and create advanced graphic assets for online courses, training materials, and visual analytics.

Those with experience in graphic design (print and digital) and a passion for education may feel inspired as this role supports the digital learning environment, expanding access to teaching and learning at Mays Business School.

Responsibilities

Graphic Design, Development, and Production:

  1. Lead collaboration with Learning Design team to create engaging content.
  2. Oversee the design process, including defining requirements, visualizing, and creating graphics (e.g., illustrations, logos, layouts, photographs).
  3. Shape and enhance the visual identity of learning elements, multi- and print media, product packaging, and exhibitions.
  4. Act as a technical resource in graphics software, hardware, and techniques.
  5. Provide and follow creative direction for advanced graphic designs for print and multimedia channels.
  6. Develop complex illustrations, logos, and other design elements using software or by hand.

Project Management:

  1. Lead multiple design projects, ensuring alignment with goals and timelines.
  2. Use project management systems to document progress, allocate resources, and maintain documentation.
  3. Develop detailed project plans and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  4. Mentor team members on project management and design processes.
  5. Establish and enforce design standards and quality control processes.
  6. Maintain a robust digital asset library, implementing version control and access protocols.

Information Awareness:

  1. Follow industry trends through professional networks, blogs, e-newsletters, and social media.
  2. Implement innovative design techniques and share best practices.
  3. Participate in professional development opportunities such as conferences, workshops, and webinars.
  4. Conduct competitive analysis and collaborate with cross-industry experts to integrate relevant strategies.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Two years of professional experience in graphic design, including both print and digital media.

Preferred Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics Design, Fine Arts, and four years of experience in design, including print and digital media.
  2. Experience working within brand guides or standards.
  3. Experience with project management or using a project management tool.
  4. Experience working with clients.
  5. Experience incorporating creative direction.
  6. Experience leading design projects from concept to completion.
  7. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for prototyping and knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint.
  8. Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
  9. Proficiency in designing, developing, and revising graphic content within deadlines.
  10. Knowledge of visual communication principles, practices, techniques, industry standards, and trends.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Advanced skill level using Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
