● Promote team adherence to the Music/Worship Values, Practices, and Structure as outlined in the G + P Worship/Music Team Information document.
● With guidance from the senior pastor, prayerfully choose songs for worship services to correspond with service themes and elements, including intentionally elevated elements in special/holiday services
● Build worship repertoire through regular infusion of new songs that fit the G+P style and theology
● Transcribe or prepare music for worship team in Planning Center
● Build worship team rotations and schedule
● Communicate intentionally and regularly with team members about musical arrangements, rehearsals, materials, schedules, and services
● Lead most rehearsals and worship services
● Make instrumentation or personnel adjustments when Sunday absences occur
● Mentor and challenge team musicians on their instruments regularly for growth
● Develop new music leaders from within the worship team
● Audition and incorporate new, qualified musicians from the congregation
● Manage tech team staff to ensure setup, teardown, worship tech needs are met (projection, sound, live stream)
● Prepare worship budget for music and technology related to the worship service
● Purchase any necessary musical instruments; coordinate with tech staff for the purchase of any necessary sound, projection, and live stream equipment
● Participate in weekly staff meetings as able (remotely, if necessary)
Requirements
Qualifications:
Faith:
● The individual must base their faith on the Bible, professing beliefs consistent with Reformed theology expressed through the views and government of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA).
● Must be actively pursuing God through spiritual disciplines (prayer, time in Scripture, fellowship with other believers, etc.)
● Must express a readiness through membership to commit to the pursuit of the vision and mission of Grace + Peace Church
● Must be theologically comfortable with G + P’s view of the purpose of music in the worship service as outlined in the G + P Worship/Music Team Information document
Professional:
● Bachelor’s degree in music (degree in worship music, music performance, or music education preferred; general music or music production degrees may be considered if other professional qualifications are met) or other qualifying experience
● Proficiency on multiple instruments, with high proficiency in piano and/or guitar
● Pleasing vocal tone for worship leading, with high proficiency in harmonization
● Ability to mentor and grow volunteer musicians on their instruments/voices
● Experience leading congregational worship
● Experience working with and leading volunteers is preferred
● Basic understanding of operation of audio mixer is preferred
